Grading

As an affiliate of the British Judo Association, our club adopts the BJA grading system, offering a structured pathway for the progression of our members. Participants will receive invitations to club gradings when their coaches determine that they are prepared for advancement, usually encouraging grading every 4 to 6 months. This assessment takes into account factors such as regular attendance, a positive training attitude, advancements in randori, and performance outcomes in contests.

Kindly bring your BJA record book to club gradings, and it is essential to maintain an up-to-date BJA membership. If you are interest and haven’t been grading in a while, please let one of our senior coaches know at your next training session.

The syllabus routes

In the grading assessment, judoka will be requested to showcase the techniques outlined in the BJA syllabus, incorporate some personally chosen techniques, and exhibit a comprehension of judo terminology. There is a tailored grading syllabus for three different age groups with a Dan Grade theory to finish. Check out each of the routes below.
